Numerology and the use of numbers can be found throughout all religions. In Christianity and Catholicism, for example, historic churches and cathedrals have a lot of equations hidden within the architecture and those beautiful stained glass windows. While there were times in history that Numerology was considered to be a "tool of the Devil," nothing could have been further from the truth.
A Few Specific Examples in Religion
The examples below describe a few (but not nearly all) religious references to numbers.
The Number One (1) is considered to the the number of God, as found in the Old Testament. This translated into the First Commandment which states "Thou shalt have no other gods before me."
The Number Two (2) represents opposites in the Bible, such as good and evil, light and dark. There were two stone tablets on which the ten commandments were written.
The Number Three (3) is "Trinity." The Father, Son and Holy Ghost being the most famous of all. There were three wise men who arrived for the birth of Jesus.
The Number Four (4) is the number of horsemen of the Apocalypse; there are four points on the cross. Pagans had the four elements: earth, wind, fire and air.
The Number Five (5) is represented by the pentagram in Wicca; five stones were used to defeat Goliath. Islam has five pillars. Jesus was wounded five times when crucified.
The Number Six (6) is the number of points on the Star of David. The world was created in six days by God. The holiday Shavuot starts on the sixth day of the month of Sivan.
The Number Seven (7) is the number of hells, heavens and layers of earth in Islam. Noah was commanded to board seven pair of each type of animal onto his ark.
The Number Eight (8), in Hinduism, represents the number of forms of the goddess Lakshmi. The bible lists the eighth king as being the Antichrist.
The Number Nine (9) indicates the end of a cycle in Hinduism, and is considered to be a perfect and complete number in that faith.
